Frequently Asked Questions

Getting Started

Q: How do I add my parkrun ID?

A: Open the app and tap "Add User" on the setup screen Enter your parkrun ID in the format A123456 (where 123456 is your unique number). The app will automatically fetch your profile information from parkrun.org.uk.

Q: Where can I find my parkrun ID?

A: Your parkrun ID is printed on your parkrun barcode. It's also shown in the URL when you view your results on parkrun.org.uk (e.g., parkrun.org.uk/parkrunner/123456 - your ID would be A123456). Alternatively request it to be sent to you here Access parkrun profile

Q: Can I add multiple family members?

A: Yes! The app supports multiple profiles. Use the Family tab to add and manage multiple parkrun IDs for family members and friends.

Using QR Codes

Q: How do I display my QR code at parkrun?

A: Open the app and go to the "Me" tab. Your QR code will be displayed prominently. Simply show this screen to the barcode scanner at the finish line.

Q: Does the QR code work offline?

A: Yes! Once your profile is set up, the QR code works completely offline. You don't need an internet connection at the parkrun event.

Q: What if my QR code doesn't scan?

A: Ensure your screen brightness is at maximum and the QR code is clean on your screen. If issues persist, you can also display the traditional barcode format or provide your parkrun ID verbally.

Apple Watch

Q: How do I set up the Apple Watch app?

A: The Apple Watch app syncs automatically with your iPhone. Make sure both devices are paired and the 5K QR Code app is installed on your iPhone. Your QR code will appear on your watch within a few minutes.

Q: Why isn't my QR code showing on my Apple Watch?

A: Ensure your Apple Watch is connected to your iPhone and both devices have the latest version of the app. Try opening the iPhone app first, then check your watch.

Data and Privacy

Q: Is my data safe?

A: Yes! All your data is stored locally on your device. We don't collect, store, or transmit any personal information to external servers. See our Privacy Policy for details.

Q: Can I export my data?

A: Yes! Go to Settings > Data Management > Export Data to save all your information in JSON format for backup or transfer purposes.

Q: How do I delete my data?

A: You can delete individual user profiles in the Family tab, or remove all data via Settings > Data Management > Delete All Data.

Notifications

Q: How do I enable parkrun reminders?

A: Go to Settings > Notifications and enable "Saturday Reminders". You'll receive a notification every Saturday morning to remind you about parkrun.

Q: Can I get notified about new results?

A: Yes! The app can notify you when new results might be available. Enable "Result Updates" in Settings > Notifications.

Technical Issues

Q: The app won't load my parkrun data

A: This usually happens when parkrun.org.uk is experiencing high traffic. Try again later, or check if the parkrun website is accessible in your browser.

Q: My statistics aren't updating

A: Pull down on the "Me" tab to refresh your data. New results typically appear on parkrun.org.uk within a few hours of the event.

Q: The app crashes when I open it
